Melissa's Office
Coming to your first therapy appointment can stir up a lot of different feelings. Even if you have been in therapy before, starting fresh with a new therapist can bring up lots of questions, anxieties and take some just getting use to.
It is important that you consult the Office Location page so that you know how to get to the office location. Give yourself plenty of time to find the location and have time to find parking.
Once you find parking here are some helpful facts.

Getting into the building:

If your appointment is from M-F between 9am and 5pm the front doors will be open. However once you reach the elevator you will need to use the call box at the elevator and use the A to Z button to scroll through the names, once you have located my name enter the code you see and the elevator will be sent to you. If  your appointment is on the weekend or after hours you will need to use the call box outside and use the # button to scroll through the directory, once you have located my name enter the code you see and the door will be buzzed open. Once at the elevator use the A to Z button to scroll through the names, once you have located my name enter the code you see and the elevator will be sent to you.

Your First Session:

Your first session may be uncomfortable or just a new experience, it is hard to come to a complete stranger and tell them about your problems or concerns.   The session will focus on understanding what brings you to therapy, what are your concerns/struggles and what type of goals you see yourself working on in therapy. You will be given time to ask me questions about my practice and experience and any other questions you may have.  Towards the end of your session you will be asked how you felt about the process and if you have any other thoughts or questions.
